27 Minutes is All it Takes
Lots of our clients come from a past of doing hard, long workouts with less than satisfactory results. When we talk about our classes and specifically about how long they are, they often ask, “Really, 27 minutes is all it takes?”
Yep, you got it. Our philosophy and practice is grounded in proven methodologies. After much research and experience, we specifically chose our workouts to be 17 minutes and 27 minutes long as it has been proven that short, high-intensity, metabolic-strength training is just the ticket to safe and effective fat loss!
Short (but specifically designed) training sessions at AOC = safe & effective fat loss!
First of all, we don’t shy from weight! Load (aka those kettle bells, dumbbells, resistance bands, etc), applied accordingly, helps build muscle which, ultimately, aids in shedding fat.
The time spent performing each movement should also be kept short, between 45-50 seconds. This is because neural effects can be maximized by lower time under tensions. Short rest periods are also key.
The paradox of resistance training for fat loss is how to combine heavy resistance and short rest periods. Usually the two do not go hand in hand! But keeping rest periods short is critical to increasing caloric burn and total work performed. We can assist this by working non-competing body parts in supersets or tri-sets of circuits, instead of typical straight set programs to allow us to work harder and with greater resistance.
And of course, you can always maximize your results by maximizing your work intensity!
At AOC we are going to help you get leaner and stronger smartly by applying proven techniques and getting you to work hard in your 27 (or 17) minute class. You don’t need to spend hours and hours getting suboptimal results. We’ll help you get dialled in during your workouts and still have time to enjoy the rest of your life.
